The Factory Improvement Programme provides participating factories with a variety of practical tools to help factories implement systematic changes on the factory floor and in the management offices. In general there are four types of tools in the programme: • Overview documents to provide background information on a topic. • Step-by-step instructions on how to implement a new method/technique or system. • Templates to help create documents such as strategies, policies or forms. • Checklists to help assess a factory’s current situation. During the module workshops, participants receive tools they can use on the job, photocopy for their colleagues and keep to remind themselves of the main principles discussed. In addition, each participating factory receives a complete ‘FIP toolbox’ with copies of all module tools, templates and forms that can be modified for individual use.
