The FIP modules cover the main areas related to improving profitability and workplace relations. Throughout the modules four main themes that are crucial to factory improvement are emphasized: • Joint problem-solving. • Workplace communication and cooperation. • Systems-based approaches to improvement. • Measurement for continuous improvement.
The core FIP modules cover the following subjects: Workplace cooperation: To address the importance of communication and trust in building a cooperative and productive work environment. Joint problem-solving tools are introduced as well as the basics of factory improvement, including continuous improvement and measurement. Quality: To look at the importance of quality in a factory and how to improve quality throughout the production process. Practical methods to reduce defects and to create a quality culture are discussed. Productivity: To discuss ways to identify problems and increase productivity through worker involvement. Production plans and measurement tools are introduced to help manage productivity. Cleaner production: To look at the importance of controlling energy and waste and developing a more efficient production cycle. Checklists and tips for monitoring and reducing waste levels are introduced. Human resources: To focus on an enterprise’s biggest competitive advantage: its employees. Tools for developing compliance requirements for human resource practices are addressed. Health and safety: To address ways to identify and minimize risks to workers in the factory. Checklists and tips to address common workplace risks and hazards are introduced. Strengthening workplace relations: Practical methods and mechanisms for managers and workers to collaborate are discussed. Mechanisms of dialogue supporting workplace replace relations and joint efforts to address common concerns are promoted. In addition, there are also shorter sub-modules available on specific topics such as: • HIV and AIDS in the workplace. • Disability in the workplace. | ||||
