The International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Factory Improvement Programme was established in 2002 to address labour relations, working conditions and increasing competitiveness. The programme started with garment sector factories in Sri Lanka and then expanded using a multi-sector approach in Vietnam. Running a Factory Improvement Programme requires a strong local team to manage the day-to-day operations. Country level programmes are supported by the ILO FIP project office. The project office: • Develops and maintains standardized training materials for the programme. • Promotes the FIP to donors, international buyers and other markets. • Looks at ways to continually improve the programme methodology and content.
