"The conclusion one may draw is that FIP-related improvements on management and workplace relations have a positive impact on productivity. It also assists companies in complying with labour laws and audit standards as well
as reducing monitoring "

The Factory Improvement Programme (FIP) is a project developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to provide business services that link good management and good labour practices.

The programme helps participating factories build systems to increase their productivity while also strengthening workplace relations. Throughout the programme, managers and workers participate in each module to work together on specific projects related to overall factory improvement.

FIP takes a unique approach, combining workshop learning with individual factory-level assistance to address topics such as:

    • Quality.

    • Productivity.

    • Cleaner production and environmental impact.

    • Human resources.

    • Health and safety.

    • Workplace cooperation and industrial relations.

FIP was created to demonstrate the linkages between the objectives embodied in the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and 'high road' management practices for achieving productivity and quality. Adopted in 1998, the Declaration is an expression of commitment by governments, employers' and workers' organizations to uphold basic human values - values that are vital to our social and economic lives.
